Events that occur during transport can damage your product to the point of failure. This damage occurs due to the multiple stresses confronted during the shipment period. Stresses such as pressure, vibration, shock, temperature, humidity, and drop events are all present in the transportation environment.

Without knowing the levels of these stresses it is impossible to design a fool proof test plan to ensure your product, and packaging will survive the transportation environment.

The levels encountered often surprise our clients, with drop events in the multiple meter range, and shocks often breeching the 50G mark. If you have ever seen Dead On Arrival (DOA) products at your customer site and have been unable to understand why these products passed all factory testing, yet failed upon arrival then we strongly suggest evaluating your shipping conditions.

Transportation Environment Measurement (TEM)

Using the latest in transportation recorders we will work with your organization to establish:

• The modes of transport used.
• The stress levels you expect.
• The routes you suspect your products travel through.
• We'll monitor actual samples leaving your worldwide operations.
  • And can track these using GPS and event logging.

• The shock, vibration, and drop height levels encountered during transport.
• The Temperature, humidity and pressure throughout the transport path.
• Hot spots where damage is most likely to occur.

This information will then be used to create a comprehensive test plan to be applied to your product, and packaging during the development phase.

TEM Approximate Cost

Costs are based on using one recorder for a period not exceeding one month. Data analysis is charged per results file and includes a comprehensive test report detailing events of interest including vibration, shock, drop height, temperature, humidity, and pressure.
